Artificial grass benefits from being quick to dry, gentler on the body than hard-surfaces, and is easier to maintain than traditional grass. Artificial turf pitches and tennis courts collect dirt and debris from general use, footwear, leaf matter, broken fibres and soiling. This dirt will gradually migrate deeper into the pile, reducing your pitch’s playing quality and safety.

Artificial turf pitches can also be susceptible to moss and vegetation growth, which can spoil both the appearance and safety of your court. This is especially likely if your pitch or court is in a damp and shady area, and out of use for part of the year. There are, however, things you can do to yourself to prevent this, such as regular brushing and removing debris that can encourage weed growth.

As part of regular maintenance, the sand or rubber infill levels should be checked and replenished if needed. This, in turn, will also help to increase the life expectancy of the pitch and reduces the chances of injury, since the infill layer improves the grip and the wear of the artificial turf.
